The meaning & psychology of colour

Often used where there is minimal natural light or facing a northern exposure. These colours help to spark conversation and increase appetite and so are often used in living and dining rooms. Use these colours to deliver a high energy mood.

Neutrals although not on the colour wheel enjoy huge popularity. They are variations of grays, whites, beiges, taupes and black; are easy to work with plus they are soothing.

You can develop a room around these colours or use them as quiet backdrops or as a grounding feature. They can evoke an understated elegance.

To keep neutrals from becoming boring or bland add some texture and create interest with different tonal values. Introduce some shine into the mix, such as mirrors, glass top tables or accessories with reflective qualities.

Customer car row to be settled before Spanish GP

Spyker team boss Colin Kolles is hopeful that the customer car row will be settled before next month's Spanish Grand Prix, despite the failure to reach an agreement during a two hour meeting in Bahrain.

All eleven team principals met with Bernie Ecclestone to discuss the matter, but after two hours of negotiations a solution could still not be found.

"I'm still plodding away at it," the Englishman told reporters. "It's very hard to get these people to agree. It's always good for somebody today and then tomorrow it's bad for them."

Spyker has already gone to arbitration, but last week stunned the paddock by protesting the Toro Rosso cars. The protest was subsequently thrown out by the stewards because the arbitration process is already underway.

It's widely though that the issue will be solved by Ecclestone coming up with the right kind of financial inducement, but that will need the agreement of all the teams.

Arbitration: Williams keeps a watching eye

Although Spyker has begun the arbitration process, Williams - one of the leading critics in the customer cars row - has remained quiet.

Today, a spokesperson for the British team confirmed that it has not yet begun its own action: "We are not involved at this time," a spokesperson told Reuters.

Speaking at the launch of FW29, both Frank Williams and Patrick Head were adamant that customer cars contravene the Concorde Agreement and that any team using them in 2007 should not qualify for points (or prize money) in the Constructors' Championship.

Although moves have been made behind the scenes to calm the row, Spyker, in particular, remains adamant, hence last week's admission that the arbitration process has begun.

It is thought that the Dutch team is questioning the legality not only of the Toro Rosso and Super Aguri cars, but also the 2007 Red Bull and the 2006 Toro Rosso.

Mediation fails to prevent Laboratory Workers' str

DHBs were in mediation with the Lab Workers' Union in Auckland today but were unable to find a solution to get the strike called off.

DHB Spokesman, Gordon Davies - CEO of Canterbury DHB, says mediation will never be able to overcome an unrealistic claim when the union is not prepared to make a meaningful shift in its position to find some common ground.

"The union's pay and conditions claims are still unrealistic and unaffordable. Another insurmountable hurdle is their claim to include private laboratories in the agreement. Private Labs have made it clear they do not consider this appropriate and this would prevent a deal with the union - even if all other matters could be resolved.

"We've moved considerably during these negotiations to try and find a compromise. Our offer would give Lab workers 8.5% over three years with a pay scale from $45,000 to $56,000.
