Yakima County employees seek pay increase

YAKIMA, Wash -- Yakima County employees are asking for an across the board pay increase of four percent and an increase to their healthcare benefits. But the county is refusing.

Since 1999, Yakima County has calculated employee pay by a market driven data survey. County employees say the survey data is faulty and shouldn't be used.

"When they sent it out to all the different companies, " Tom Barrington of the Washington State Council of County and City Employees, "they got about half the information back on the positions that they sent out for."

The county is sticking to the survey method. Both groups are talking with mediator, but employees are protesting during their lunch and before and after work.

Sony sits on Rs 40 cr unsold airtime

A joint statement sent out by the Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI) and the Indian Broadcasters Federation (IBF), has split ad agencies and clients into two camps.

The statement says, "All contracts are bilateral and should be governed by what the parties have agreed to in writing and that in committing and agreeing to any media buying deal, clients and their agencies always face either an upside or downside as the event or property unfolds. This is not unique to a property like cricket."

"Specifically," the statement adds, "had India done well, no advertiser would have been asked to pay extra. Cricket packages when bought or sold are not necessarily linked to fortunes of Indian team alone."

Bharat Patel, chairman, Procter and Gamble (P&G), an aggrieved party said: "We don't need an agency body to tell us what to do.
